one for the money, two for the show, three to get ready...

early this morning, the third of four major life-events came to pass. the first, the birth of La Cognilia, took place on 24 July. the second, completion of my associates degree in accounting, took place on 22 August. the third, to relocate to ohio/northern kentucky took place this morning at approximately 8:30.

officially, and symbolically, after packing all La Taureau, La Cognilia, and all our worldly belongings into a reanted truck, i left california for the midwest. however, i am technically still here, at my parent's house to be more precise, until the fourth and final event takes place in the beginning of next month when i leave for boot camp.

officially called basic combat training (BCT), it is 9 weeks long, followed by advanced training (AIT) where i learn my particular job in the army for another 10 weeks. all told, that's almost 5 months of training. however, my particular case is slightly different, for better or worse. instead of the normal 9 weeks, my BCT will be 12 weeks. during basic training, if you are scheduled to be there over christmas, you are granted "exodus", meaning you can go home for the holidays for several weeks if you choose.

so even though i will be able to see La Taureau and spend La Cognilia's first christmas with her, today marked the beginning of three months apart. and after the holidays, on and off for the following six months. after BCT, and AIT, i come back here to report to my reserve unit, and begin looking for a unit in ohio in which to transfer. because my unit's annual two week training is in early june, and there is a family wedding about the same time, i will most likely not get to the midwest until july 2010, which seems an eternity away.

and it all started today as La Taureau and La Cognilia turned east and headed into the sun....
