it's been a while since i posted one of these, partly because i have been away, and partly because i'm just plain lazy. but i am also excited about the new digs! so much excited, in fact, i have decided to resurrect "destination unknown friday" with my hometown;
for a long time, i was bored of san diego. i had lived here since my family relocated here from the east coast in 1979, and i felt my time in southern california had run it's course, despite living in san francisco for 8 years. but just before leaving for army training, it started to really get fun.

i don't know if it has to do with getting older, and the accompanying gradual disgust of the late-night bar scene, but getting up early on a weekend and hitting the trails of the open-space parks.
or better yet, an urban hike to the bay....
and of course, you won't find a better spot for good mexican food...even in tijuana 20 miles to the south!
