free time junky

i had hoped my time training for the army would straighten me up insofar as maintaining a schedule of sorts, becoming organized, and increasing motivation. the good lord knows i had a lot of practice doing all these things and more while wearing the digital green. however, despite my best efforts, i have failed miserably.... (actually, if the truth be known, that part about my "best efforts" isn't really accurate, either.)

for what seemed like an eternity having to always be doing something, and having very little free time to just completely relax (i.e. do absolutely NOTHING) has made me a "free time junky"; i can't seem to get enough of it. i had a week off between coming home from training and starting back up at my job, at which time La Taureau and La Cognilia came out to visit from cincinnati where they have been living with La Taureau's father while i was training. while the visit was absolutely wonderful, there were many activities in which to partake. sitting around vegging in front of the t.v., computer, or blank wall, however, was not included in said activities.

now that i'm on my own once again, i find simple things such as getting up from my chair to get a drink of water, to brush my teeth, turning off/on the light, or to simply walk across the room, has become a tedious task. the closest thing i can name it would be "occupational inertia"; a body at rest tends to stay at rest...even if it needs to get off it's ass and get something done. to be sure, this is not unlike me. all i'm saying is i had hoped my time in army training would have cured me of this "illness", when in actuality, it has made it worse. however, i discovered this could be a self-correcting problem. for example, the other day i lost my key to my bicycle lock, and in looking for it, i ended up having to finally put away the last of my army gear still laying about, folding the two loads of laundry still in the basket at the foot of my bed, and organizing my shoes.

despite cleaning up most of the mess in my room, i never did find my key in my room. it ending up being found laying next to the bicycle rack where i had dropped it the night before. but that's a story for another time...if i ever get around to it.
