tomorrow La Taureau and i get up at the ungodly hour of 3am, brave temperatures of 20-something degrees, pile into the car, and drive some 30 minutes to the airport in order for me to fly back to basic training. all in all, i think i'd rather stay in bed....
but all wishing aside, i'm excited to get this overwith. i have about 3 weeks left, and i graduate! i'm not to excited about going back because i know the drill sergeants are chomping at the bit to have us work off the "holiday excess". i have a feeling i'll be doing push-ups if my shoe laces aren't tied correctly.
there was a soldier from my reserve unit who said to me upon learning i was going to get a break in training to go home for christmas, "oh, that sucks! after hanging out with your friends, you have to go back!" true, it sucks i have to leave my wife and little girl, but the fact i was able to spend christmas- my daughter's first- with them is worth all the push-ups, sit-ups, and jumping jacks they throw at me.
and so, until next time, i'm off once again to the bugle's call....

So, so happy you were able to enjoy a break at Christmastime with your little family.
Oh Army, I'm woefully behind in the blogosphere and am catching up now... I'm so happy you had a good Christmas and dinner date and cozy bed and DO NOT touch a drill sergeant's hat. I'm proud of you. Be well, my friend. Happy New Year!!!
