the first day of the rest of our lives

it was around march of 2009 when La Taureau told me she wanted to speed up the events we had been planning for; me joining the army, moving to ohio (or so we thought), but most importantly, having our baby we were expecting in july. my first reaction was a resounding "NO! it will speed up soon enough, there's no need to rush it!"

and speed up, it did. before we knew it, La Cognilia had arrived, the two of them were leaving for the midwest, and i was shipping off.

over the past year, with the exception of about three months, La Taureau has single-handedly raised La Cognilia. you can say what you want about the heroes are in the military, anyone who's in the military will tell you the heroes are the ones at home raising our children, usually by themselves.

in approximately 14 hours from this writing, this crazy rollercoaster of a year will draw to a close. as we celebrate La Cognilia's first birthday, we celebrate as a family once again and forevermore.





and i can't wait.........
